Wellington Park provides for a broad range of tourism and outdoor recreational opportunities in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is easily accessible to visitors. From bushwalking to mountain biking, 4WDing, horse riding and rock climbing, the range of activities is extensive. There's also a variety of picnic areas and lookout platforms close to parking facilities.

Mount Wellington is undoubtedly one of the most important tourist destinations in Tasmania, visited by interstate, overseas and local Tasmanians in numbers estimated to be at least 300 000 people per annum. Wellington Park appeals to visitors with both natural and cultural attractions, offering a variety of experiences and activities within a remarkable setting.

Historically, the Park has been an important destination for locals and visitors, from the explorations of the early naturalists, to the hut culture in the late 1800s. Today the Park means different things to different people. Today's locals testify to the rich meaning of the area, valuing it as a place for peace and perspective, an escape to nature, and a playground for outdoor activities.
