Camping

Wellington Park is generally a day-use area as there are no formal camping facilities available, and camp fires are not permitted at any time.

Rough bush camping is allowed in the Natural Zone, as indicated in the Wellington Park Management Plan. This area is generally at a lower altitude in the western sections of the Park, however, further detailed maps are required for safe camping.

Camping is not allowed near creeks and streams or near picnic areas, or in association with horse riding or four wheel driving. Camp fires are not permitted except in emergency situations.

Climbing

For experienced and well equipped rock climbers, Wellington Park provides multi-pitch routes in a mountain environment. The Organ Pipes on Mount Wellington is one of Tasmania's most popular venues for rock climbing. Climbers should be aware that there may be loose rock and rapid changes in weather.

Climbing Australia introduces rock climbing opportunities on the Organ Pipes. Additionally, a new draft guide for climbing in the area features shorter technical climbs and traditional routes in numerous locations throughout Wellington Park.

(Please note - the Wellington Park Management Trust does not endorse the above mentioned guides as some advice may conflict with management policies. Climbing is an inherently dangerous activity and all climbers are responsible for their own safety.)
